ON THE CORNER OF AVENUE I AND OCEAN PARKWAY: A Birth Story in Comics by Summer Pierre

Having a baby in the back of a minivan in snowy Brooklyn was not in my birth plan, but when it comes to babies plans are for suckers!

I remember reading about this in the news at the time and feeling such sympathy for you- good grief! I had just moved to Brooklyn and couldn’t imagine. Lovely to see your comic about it and cheers to the paramedic! Gus must be one of a select few born on Ocean Parkway!

  3. I love this charming story–I and Ocean Parkway, so New York, so Brooklyn, so very very a birthing story where the one who gets it is another woman, of course. I had that person next to me in the birthing room at Roosevelt–someone I had never met who chanted, Come baby, come, Come out baby come out. I’ll never forget her. I love this piece.
